The human species has a rich history of adaptation. We evolved as a tribal civilization, gathering food from the Earth and hunting animals for our sustenance while competing with other species for survival. Our ancestors, over millions of years, made gradual and slow changes to adapt to their environment, causing few negative effects.
In the last 150 years, the Industrial Revolution ushered in an era of unprecedented change. Modern humans, unlike our "ancestors," now consume industrially processed foods and lead more sedentary lives. This shift from an active, hunter-gatherer lifestyle to a more stationary existence has led to various health issues and physiological consequences.
Everything in our world operates within the context of interdependence with the environment. As a species, we are not exempt from these universal rules. To achieve a functional body that can sustain life optimally, we must reconnect with the physical laws inherent in nature. Our health and structural integrity depend on it.
To comprehend our human foundation, we must look back at our evolutionary history, exploring the other human species that once walked this Earth. We belong to the Homo genus and share common ancestry with various species like Homo Neanderthalensis, Homo Erectus, Homo Soloensis, and more. Understanding these connections helps us appreciate our place in the family of primates or hominids.
All genetic changes and species attributes are intricately tied to the environment in which they exist. Approximately 4-6 million years ago, our ancestors underwent a pivotal shift when the forests of Africa transformed into less tree-dense environments due to climate change. Bipedal walking and a biomechanical shift became essential for survival. Today, our functional foundation hinges on our ability to stand upright, walk, and run.
